Capacity building formed a central pillar of NiEMS2026. Recognising that effective emergency medical response in industrial environments requires specialised knowledge, practical skills and inter-disciplinary coordination, the conference incorporated a series of structured pre-conference workshops designed to strengthen competencies across critical domains of industrial emergency management. These workshops were conducted on 27th February 2026, ahead of the main conference proceedings.

The workshops were conceptualised to move beyond theoretical dialogue and provide participants with practical exposure to key aspects of emergency preparedness, clinical response, occupational safety and incident investigation. Each workshop was curated and delivered by domain experts and experienced practitioners, ensuring that participants received applied insights grounded in real-world industrial scenarios.

The pre-conference workshop series covered a broad spectrum of themes including trauma management, industrial burn care, disaster life support, environmental emergencies, industrial toxicology, occupational safety and accident investigation. In addition, specialised sessions addressed the medico-legal dimensions of industrial incidents, highlighting the importance of accurate documentation, compliance and evidence preservation in workplace emergencies.

Through these workshops, NiEMS2026 aimed to strengthen the preparedness of healthcare professionals, safety officers, emergency responders and industry stakeholders to respond effectively to industrial medical emergencies while also reinforcing preventive systems that reduce the likelihood and impact of such incidents.

Collectively, the pre-conference workshops at NiEMS2026 reflected a deliberate effort to translate knowledge into practical capability. By engaging participants through applied learning, expert guidance and scenario-based discussions, the workshops strengthened competencies across critical aspects of industrial emergency preparedness and response. Beyond individual skill development, these sessions fostered a deeper appreciation of the systems, coordination and preparedness required to effectively manage medical emergencies in industrial settings. In doing so, the workshops set the tone for the conference by reinforcing NiEMS2026’s broader objective of advancing resilient emergency medical systems within India’s rapidly evolving industrial landscape.
